Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization funded through gifts, grants and special events.  The fundraisers listed below are the agency’s largest source of funding second only to the generous support of the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast.  In addition to fundraising events, BBBS of Greater Houston hosts several Big-Little match events each year.  These events are an opportunity to recognize our matches, while providing access to activities and services.For more information on any of the fundraisers and events listed below, please contact us at (713)271-5683 or follow the links for additional information on a specific event. Thank you for your support  of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston.

FUNDRAISERS

Bowl for Kids’ Sake (BFKS)                                           April – JuneBFKS is a city-wide  event, open to the entire Houston community.  The event raises funds through sponsorships, as well as through bowler-collected pledges.  Community Bowl opportunities are available.                    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON BOWL FOR KIDS’ SAKE

Swing for Kids’ Sake Golf Tournament                            NovemberHouston’s leading oil and gas companies champion our second tournament of the year.  Swing for Kids’ Sake also features a golf clinic for children enrolled in the BBBS program on the day prior to the tournament.  ( See Little Links information below)ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE SWING FOR KIDS’ SAKE GOLF TOURNAMENT

Little Moments. Big Magic.  Not Quite So “Big” Breakfast                                                                        November 2006The event is a breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning, featuring Michael Williams, the Texas Railroad Commissioner and State Honorary Chair for Big Brothers Big Sisters. In addition to a presentation by Mr. Williams, Khambrel Marshall from KPRC Local 2 will introduce a couple of our Bigs who will share their stories, and BBBS will talk about the work we do.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE NOT QUITE SO “BIG” BREAKFAST

BIG-LITTLE MATCH EVENTS

Annual Spring Picnic                                                                           AprilThe Spring Picnic features the announcement of our Helen Hill Scholarship winners and lets Bigs, Littles and other volunteers enjoy Houston’s great spring weather.  Attendees participate in field games and other outdoor activities, like fishing and paddle boating.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE ANNUAL SPRING PICNIC

Back to School Fair                                                                           AugustThe Back to School Fair helps families in the BBBS program get ready for school in a fun environment.  The children recieve free school supplies and immunizations.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR

Little Links Golf Clinic*                                                      November

*Held in conjunction with the Swing for Kids’ Sake Golf TournamentLittle Links gets BBBS children out on the golf course – usually for the first time.  Participants recieve a golf lesson from the pros and get to play with their bigs.  First Tee of Houston sponsors the clinic.  Lunch and gifts are provided for all participants.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON LITTLE LINKS
