Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston Launches New Website
"www.gobighouston.org" Targets Potential Male Mentors

HOUSTON, TX  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston (BBBS) has launched a new website to compliment its "Go Big" recruitment campaign, www.gobighouston.org.

The site is geared toward recruiting more men to become mentors. Currently, the need for more Big Brothers is among the agency's biggest concerns. The majority of the 1,100 children on the agency's waiting list are little boys in need of a male friend.

The agency launched the site inconjunction with its first radio advertising campaign, and the announcement of Houston Rockets Guard Mike James as the mentoring agency's first celebrity spokesperson. Viewers can read more about the announcement on the new site here.

The site contains a multimedia section, a first for the agency. Viewers can find videos featuring the stories of Bigs and Littles, in order to get an idea what it's like to be in a mentoring relationship.

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston creates successful one-to-one mentoring relationships for all local children and teenagers who need and want them resulting in better schools, brighter futures, and stronger communities for all. Our mentoring relationships have a measurable impact on children. A national study found that children in the BBBS program are less likely to skip school, less likely to try drugs and alcohol, less likely to use violence to solve problems, and are more likely to get along with their families. In 2007, BBBS served 2,300 children in the Greater Houston area. For more information about how  we are changing what it means to grow up in our community, head to our website, www.gobighouston.org. BBBS is a United Way Agency.
