July 5 - 26: Peanut Butter & Jamm: Market Street - The Woodlands presents Peanut Butter & Jamm, a month-long series of fun music and activities designed to encourage children ages 3-10 to become active and enthusiastic listeners through music, dance and games. Peanut Butter & Jamm will take place in Market Street's Central Park every Saturday in July from 10 am – 11:30 am beginning Saturday, July 5. During the performances, children also will enjoy kids cooking classes, arts and crafts, magic shows and more.
Since supplies required for these activities are limited, parents must register their children at the Market Street concierge desk or at its website, www.marketstreet-thewoodlands.com, in order to participate. Parents also can register the day of the event, however since space is limited, early registration is recommended. Explore why your body produces mushy, oozy, crusty, scaly, and stinky gunk. Based on the best-selling book Grossology by Sylvia Branzei, this exhibition uses sophisticated animatronics and imaginative exhibits to tell you the good, the bad and the downright ugly about runny noses, body odor and much more. Families will enjoy the interactive stations and scientific explanations to help teach the “not-so-flattering†components of the human body.

Lucy's Legacy: The Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia: Visitors can see the original fossilized remains of the famous, 3.2-million-year-old hominid known as Lucy - marking the first time "she" has ever been out of Ethiopia. The exhibit also features over five million years of Ethiopia's diverse history and culture, including more than 100 artifacts from the cradle of humankind such as fossils, historical manuscripts, paintings, coins, musical instruments, and religious artifacts. My Home, Planet Earth: There are a series of difficult challenges that affect us all. One of them is the environment. What can we do to keep earth a healthy place to live? My Home, Planet Earth reveals the answers. This bilingual, hands-on exhibit is designed for children to understand how the choices they make now regarding food, water and air, impact their health and environment in the future. Join Riff and Rosie, two delightful squirrels on a mission to trace the source of pollution in their town of Bright Water Corners. Alongside their beaver-scientist friend, Castor Slaptail, use science as a tool for investigating the environment and finding a solution. Get a glimpse of what scientists have to do to collect and identify waste samples. View images of dust mites with a video microscope while learning about common allergens. Use special black light technology to detect hidden allergens and pollutants lurking in Rosie's doll house or find out what makes Rosie sneeze while playing The Allergies: True or False? game. You'll even get to navigate dust particles through a gigantic nasal passage in The Big Achoo!

Wendell Minor: In the American Tradition: Our nation's founding fathers. The Statue of Liberty. The first voyage to the moon. These and many other historic images help create shared beliefs in America and are a favored subject of illustrator Wendell Minor. The Children's Museum of Houston will showcase the work of this acclaimed artist when we present Wendell Minor: In the American Tradition with the dual goal of encouraging child literacy and artistic appreciation. A long-standing fascination with America's national heroes, traditional folkways and natural wonders both great and small inspire the rich accomplished work of Wendell Minor. His serene watercolor paintings delight the senses of both children and adults as Minor's simple, classical style provides a visual exploration to the many faces and landscapes of America. During his career, Minor has illustrated more than 30 children's picture books and is the artist of more than 2,000 book jacket covers including, David McCullough's 1776, and Truman, Pat Conroy's Prince of Tides, and Larry McMurtry Terms of Endearment. This exhibit will highlight more than two decades of work that Minor has contributed to the field of children's book illustrations.
